Sara

Sara is an artist, grandmother, and adventurer. She went whitewater rafting every summer for ages, only stopping at age 81. She played in a marimba band for 30-some years, including a tour to the Ukrainian sister city of the Oregon town in which the band was based. Her art has taken numerous forms over the decades, with the most recent being a combination of wood and clay. She’s proud to call herself an old hippie (her aura is probably tie-dyed). To her family and friends, she’s generally considered a badass, and is a beloved figure in every community she’s ever been a part of.
In August of 2024, Sara had a brain scan at Oregon Health Sciences University after a referral from “The Bad Neurologist.” In April of 2025, she finally had an appointment at OHSU to discuss the scan with “The Good Neurologist,” which is when she officially got the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
Jessica
Jessica is Sara’s oldest child (and only daughter) and primary care partner, which mostly means being Sara’s administrative assistant from afar for the time being. She’s a freelance writer and obsessive knitter who can’t seem to take on a project without dreaming up an accompanying URL, which is how we get to the page you’re reading right now.
